I have seen interviews and short documentaries of Rick and Dick Hoyt a few times and their story never fails to move me. If this video doesn’t make you teary eyed, then I don’t know what will. Dick Hoyt, you are my hero! I climb mountains, I run, I work out, I travel, I do everything I do because I can. I know there are plenty of people out there that are less fortunate that I am because they cannot do the things I can do. I can see, I can hear, I can walk, I can run, I can read, I can write, I can talk, I am healthy! We take all of these things for granted! I am sure that if one gets taken away, we surely are going to go look for it.  What I am saying is that we should never take things for granted!

If you are constantly working and never find time for yourself or for your loved ones… my question is why? Why are you really working that hard? I understand that money is important and everyone has to work but is that really more important than life? Life is not about money. The quality of life is not defined by the amount of money we make, it’s what we make out of our time. We have to find the balance. What makes us happy? How can we live comfortably without giving up the quality of life? What is enough?

Sacrifice. If we cannot have everything, then we must sacrifice something. What can we sacrifice? I will leave this one open…

The picture below was taken right before I crossed the world’s highest suspension bridge in Mt. Kinabalu, Malaysia. This was by far the most difficult hike I’ve ever been and have thought about giving up a few times but I didn’t travel a few thousand miles just to give up. I asked myself, what would Dick Hoyt do in this situation? He will continue to push himself until he reaches the finish line.
